History
The main root of the current Zhejiang University, Qiushi Academy, was founded in 1897 and was one of the earliest modern academies of higher education in China. Since 1901 Qiushi Academy had its name changed several times, and even was once suspended.
Education
Zhejiang University focuses on assiduous study and research, and science and technological innovation. University Ranking
Housing services
The Foreign Experts and Overseas Students Service Center of Zhejiang University is responsible for providing services such as accommodation, food and drink, management of the classrooms within the building of the International College.
International students who need to live in campus will be allocated by the university according to their majors, campuses where they will take their lectures. Necessities include beddings, desk and bookshelf, air-conditioning, hot water supply, campus wired and wireless network.
Library services
With a total space of 86,000 square meters, the university libraries has a collection of more than 6,830,000 volumes. In addition, the library has introduced over 400 electronic databases in all disciplines, including over 1,700,000 e-books, over 79,480 full-text journals in different languages.
ICT services
Zhejiang University Computer Center, located in Zijjingang Campus, Xixi Campus and Huajiachi Campus, is an important information center responsible for teaching computer as a fundamental course, the Center possesses the highest-caliber training equipment in Zhejiang, including the Cisco Systems and standard computer rooms with over 3,000 computers.
Medical services
Students who stay in the university for six months or above are entitled to comprehensive insurance offered by the university, including accident medical insurance, hospitalization expenses, accident deformity, death insurance
Campus life
Zhejiang University has seven campuses.
- Zijingang
Zijingang hosts the administrative offices of 11 schools/colleges, including Civil Engineering and Architecture, International Studies, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmaceutical Science, and Management.
- Yuquan
The campus is home to most schools/departments in the Faculty of Engineering.
- Xixi
Xixi Campus hosts four colleges, namely, Humanities, Education, Media and International Culture, and Marxism.
- Huajiachi
Located in east Hangzhou, it mainly offers continuing education.
- Zhijiang
Zhijiang Campus is home to ZJU's Guanghua Law School.
- Zhoushan
Zhoushan Campus is a new campus hosting the Ocean College.

There are as many as 143 students organizations all over the university, which serve to nurture the students' extra curricular interests and develop their abilities.
