The University of Notre Dame Australia was founded through an Act of the Parliament of Western Australia in December 1989. Since its inception, Notre Dame has become a leader in higher education and now boasts over 11,000 students enrolled across its three campuses in Fremantle, Sydney and Broome.
We provide our students with the theoretical knowledge and professional skills which will empower them to realise their potential, build interconnectedness with all peoples and willingly serve the community through active participation, engagement and reflection.
We have a powerful commitment to honouring the individual and recognise that each student is graced with their own gifts and talents. We believe that higher education should prepare students for a rich, fulfilling and reflective life, not just a career path.
Notre Dame’s current strategic focus is its three research entities, the Institute for Health Research, Nulungu Research Institute and the Institute for Ethics and Society. Emphasis is on collaboration, translational research and growing its higher degree by research student population. Initiatives include University fee remission scholarships for international research students and University stipend scholarships for domestic and international research students. Notre Dame has established three dedicated centres for research:
