The University of Western Sydney (UWS) began operation on 1st January 1989, under the terms of the University of Western Sydney Act, 1988 which had been passed by the New South Wales Parliament in December 1988. However, the predecessors of the University date back as far as 1891 with the establishment of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College.

Housing services

Western Sydney University offers a wide range of on-campus accommodation, providing you with high quality, affordable accommodation that gives a rich and balanced living and learning environment.

All of our villages are self-catered and fully furnished with a great range of accommodation options and 24 hour support on Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Lithgow, Nirimba, Parramatta and Penrith campuses. No matter which campus you choose, you'll find an exciting community of residents with plenty of events to help you live, learn and grow!

Medical services

Uniclinic offers a range of therapeutic health practices at reduced rates to the general public. Treatments are provided by students who are under the supervision of qualified clinicians. You do not need a referral to attend the Uniclinic.

Sports facilities

At Western Sydney University we understand the important role that sport plays in our region. Our commitment to sport is showcased by 1500 current students studying sports related courses, several key relationships with Western Sydney teams, industry expertise, Elite Athlete support and a reputation for sportsmanship at the Australian University Games.

With over 150 Student Clubs to choose from, students have the opportunity to lead a vibrant social life on and off campus. If you can't find a clubs that peaks your interest, we can help you start your own and spread the word!


The School is currently in the process of obtaining accreditation with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). ACCSB is an internationally recognised accreditation body for Business Schools.

As a student from Bangladesh, my expectations were always centered around what I have experienced in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, I used study books and watched tutorials on the internet and that was about it. Not much interactive studies, not many interesting workshops. It all changed when I joined Western Sydney University. It baffles me when I see how fun learning can...

I cannot flaw the incredible experience I have had so far studying at Western Sydney University. The staff are all wonderfully kind, helpful and full of knowledge, the facilities are fantastic and other students are outgoing and friendly. My overall study experience has been wonderful!
