Software Systems program at Simon Fraser University is an applied area of computer science that focuses on the development of high-quality software for public and private industry. Embedded software is used in so many of our every day items; cell phones, security systems, internet search engines, movie and music distribution, and in specialized areas such as medical imaging, financial analysis systems, and safety critical applications like air traffic control systems. 

This is a practical, hands-on program delivered through a combination of lectures, case studies, and individual and team projects. Graduates will have a solid understanding of the software development life cycle including testing and verification, documentation, and revision control, all of which are needed to take projects from conception to delivery.

General Requirements

  • Quantitative and analytical skills requirement
  • All applicants must demonstrate competence in Quantitative and Analytical skills.
  • You need a minimum of a C- grade in Pure Mathematics or Mathematics and Statistics on the GCE Ordinary “O” Level Examinations, or a minimum of a D grade in Advanced “A” Level (or AS Level) Examinations for admission.
  • General Certificate of Education Advanced Level or Cambridge Pre-University Diploma
  • Admission average calculated on a minimum of three A-Level subjects, or two A-levels and two AS-Level subjects (all of which must be in different subject areas)
  • Submit certified true copies of final GCSE results and predicted A-level results
