Film Production Diploma program at the Toronto Film School offers an intensive, behind-the-scenes education across all areas of filmmaking. You’ll experience every phase of pre-production, production and post production, writing and analyzing screenplays, developing storyboards, creating shot lists and preparing budgets and schedules.

About

You’ll learn to shoot, direct, block, light scenes and capture audio, as well as assemble, cut and manipulate footage with this Film Production Diploma program at the Toronto Film School. Mentored by leading industry professionals, you’ll develop a wide variety of productions from documentaries to commercials, public service announcements, short films, music videos, and even the beginnings of that feature you’ve always dreamt of making. You’ll leave the program with the creative, technical and business expertise to launch your career in the film industry.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

  • Submit your online application form.
  • Pay your application fee (non-refundable): $100 for all programs, except for Film Production ($500).
  • You must have an Ontario secondary school diploma (grade 12) or its equivalent.

So you want to be a filmmaker?

Please submit two short assignments:

  • Movie Critique: Write a professional critique (300-500 words) about any feature length film, describing the film’s strengths and weaknesses and assessing its overall entertainment value. 
  • Storyboard: Dream up any film idea and develop a storyboard. You may also include dialogue and direction. Don’t worry about your drawing skills, you can use storyboard software or stick figures.
