Overview
Computer Science at York University combines theoretical foundations with applied computing across areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, networks and databases. Students can choose BA or BSc routes, select international honours options (iBA, iBSc or the Dual Specialised degree), and enhance their studies with co‑op placements or industrial internships. Study is available full‑time or part‑time at the Keele Campus within the Lassonde School of Engineering.
Why Computer Science at York University?
Delivered through the Lassonde School of Engineering, this undergraduate offering emphasises mathematical rigour and practical skill development. The programme highlights international pathways, including study abroad components and a dual degree partnership that awards a York credential alongside one from Bonn‑Rhein‑Sieg University, with thesis work opportunities coordinated with the University of Crete. Co‑op opportunities begin after the second year and experiential education is supported across years, helping students apply classroom learning to workplace contexts.
Programme teaching fuses firm foundations in algorithms and mathematics with hands‑on laboratory and project work. BA students pair computing and mathematics with humanities and social science electives, while BSc students substitute sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology to complement technical study. Students may pursue a minor or double major to broaden or deepen disciplinary breadth.
