Overview

Computer Science at York University is delivered by the Lassonde School of Engineering and offers undergraduate BA and BSc routes that combine computing theory with practical programming and strong mathematical foundations. Students tackle topics ranging from artificial intelligence and virtual reality to databases, networking and human-computer interaction, while developing methods for efficient, reliable computation. Pathways include international honours options (iBA, iBSc), a dual-degree partnership with Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University and an undergraduate thesis placement at the University of Crete. Co-op and industrial internships are available after second year to support workplace experience.

Study within the Lassonde School of Engineering on Keele Campus, where computing courses are combined with mathematics and complementary BA or BSc electives. The school emphasises applied learning: co-op placements open after second year, and an optional co-application is strongly recommended for experiential pathways. In the BA stream, computing is paired with liberal arts courses in humanities and social sciences; in the BSc stream complementary science modules such as physics, chemistry or biology broaden analytical perspectives. Students may also combine Computer Science with a degree Minor or a Double Major to explore other fields.
