Overview

In the first year of our BSc  Geography and Sport Science (Hons)  from  Loughborough University , the geography modules span human and physical geography, ensuring you have a firm understanding of how social and physical processes vary within the context of places and regions. In second and final year of this course you can specialise in either human or physical geography, or you can choose to maintain the equal balance between the two.

From this course, you will also develop a theoretical, critical and practical understanding of sport science with the help of the UK’s leading School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. The sport science modules focus on developing your knowledge of physiology, physical activity and health, psychology, sociology and pedagogy. The knowledge gained in the sport science section of our Geography and Sport Science degree will support a variety of careers in sport, health and/or education.

Your future career

• A major contributing factor to this is the skills that our students develop during their degree. Employability skills are embedded through our curriculum, either as stand-alone skills-based modules or integrated into all of our topic-based modules. Your personal tutor will introduce you to personal development planning which is done alongside your course to prepare you for graduate life.
• Our Geography and Sport Science (BSc) students have been appointed to posts across a broad range of industries and sectors. Some of our graduates go on to further study or training, or take up posts that reflect the content of both subjects such as teacher training for Physical Education and Geography; others have been appointed to posts in publishing, sport marketing, administration and management. Almost all of our graduates are in employment within a few months of graduating, or progress to postgraduate study.
