Overview
Our distinctive Law (Senior Status) (Hons) degree delivered by the University of York combines academic rigour with applied, practical and interdisciplinary perspectives. In addition to the seven core subjects required for a QLD, you can also choose from a wide range of option modules. This means you're able to study the areas of law that interest you most and ensures you develop an understanding of law in all its contexts.
Quick Facts:
- We are the only law school in the UK to teach using problem-based learning (PBL). Under the guidance of expert tutors, you'll work in small student law firms to tackle complex legal scenarios. These legal problems often involve multiple areas of the law overlapping, replicating the nature of real-life legal scenarios. This modern, practical method allows you to develop the practical legal skills that lawyers use every day.
- Our highly approachable tutors are committed to providing you with high-quality teaching, feedback and support. Our unique approach ensures that you'll graduate as a creative, ethical and robust problem solver, with a skill set that stands out to employers.
- This degree meets requirements that can enable you to progress to the next stages of professional qualification as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales. If you want to qualify as a lawyer in another jurisdiction, your degree may be recognised as contributing to the entry requirements of the professional stage of legal training.
Accreditation
This degree is a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD), accredited by the Bar Standards Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority.
