- Human physiology is the science of the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of humans in good health. The principal level of focus of physiology is at the functional level of organs and organ systems.
- Strengthen your understanding of the connections between psychological and physiological aspects of human health, by combining with another discipline area, such as Psychology.
Career outcomes
- Be prepared for a career in medical research and development in either the public or private sector in universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical and diagnostic laboratories, sales and consulting.
- Graduates of the Human Physiology program from the University of Southern Queensland interested in research careers may obtain employment in biomedical research laboratories or progress to further studies such as Honours, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees within Biomedical Research.
- Completion of this degree also provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to sit the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admissions Test (GAMSAT) to seek entry into postgraduate medicine and other professional clinical courses.

Subject pre-requisite: General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent.
To study this degree we also assume you have sound knowledge in:
- English (Units 3 & 4, C)
We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12).
It is also recommended that you have studied Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C), and one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics or equivalent. If you do not have the recommended Mathematics B Level for entry then you will be required to undertake MAT1000 Mathematics Fundamentals as an elective.
