Overview

Archaeology

During your Archaeology and European and Global History course of studies offered by University of Malta , they will provide you with the academic knowledge required to understand how archaeology is a necessary and important area through which modern society can learn about primitive or ancient societies and cultures on a global scale. They offer a Mediterranean archaeological perspective where you will have the opportunity to put to practice the concepts and theories learned into the field work unit offered during summer recess. 

They will also encourage you to undergo the Erasmus+ mobility programme, as they believe that a diversified and multi-cultural experience through international learning will provide you with a more refined learning outcome.

Applicants wishing to join the part-time mode must submit their application as full-time, and then include a note in the comments box of the application form, denoting their preference to be considered for the part-time option. Such requests will be considered by the Board of the Faculty.

European and Global History

The programme of study will give you an academic lens of European and Global history. By taking an academic appreciation towards the global timeline to where contemporary society finds itself, you will have a deeper and enriching understanding of the political, societal and cultural development throughout the years. 

Since we live in an ever-increasing globalised world, being knowledgeable about continental progress and differences from the East to West will provide you with an invaluable understanding of the interrelating histories of different and multilateral countries. You will also be encouraged to take on an Erasmus+ mobility programme to experience a multicultural and diversified learning experience.

Careers

Archaeology

As a graduate of this course, you will have career opportunities both locally and abroad, in which your valuable knowledge on the subject will be demonstrated. You will be able to pursue a career as an archaeologist, conservator, heritage manager, historic buildings inspector or conservation officer, museum/gallery curator, tourism officer, records manager, archivist, cartographer and as a social research. 

If you are interested in furthering your studies, or are considering an academic career in archaeology, then they encourage you to enrol in a postgraduate course offered at the University, where you will be able to hone your knowledge and gain a holistic understanding of the subject.

European and Global History

Upon successfully graduating from this course, you will be employable in a number of fields related to the subject-matter, both local and abroad, such as an archivist, museum curator, historical consultant, researcher and as a Government historian. 

If you are interested in furthering your studies, or are considering an academic profession, then they encourage you to enrol in one of the local post-graduate courses, as a number of the alumni have done so.
