You will learn about all aspects of drama, such as stage and screen, as well as diverse practices, including arts management, health and wellbeing, or creativity in education. At the same time, you can engage in the technologies and techniques found in a wide range of media – television, radio, film, computer gaming, podcasting, as well as emerging forms of media such as TikTok and AI.

The facilities offer everything you need to unleash your creativity. In addition to its exciting entertainment programme, Pontio gives you access to a studio theatre and professionally equipped public screening spaces. 

As well as hosting students’ theatre production work and end-of-year cabarets and performance recitals, Pontio Cinema hosts our own media showcase and runs a range of industry events by the likes of the British Film Institute and Film Wales Network.

Taught by leading analysts, practising professionals and consultants, this Media and Drama (Hons)   programme offered by Bangor University  prepares you for a career within media, theatre and other creative industries.

Careers

If you are enthusiastic about contemporary culture and communications, studying Media and Drama at Bangor can be your launchpad to an illustrious career across the media, creative and cultural industries. They have excellent links with theatre companies, newspapers and the television industry.

The graduates have gone on to work in a range of roles: creative writing; professional writing and publishing; performance and the theatre (both on and behind the stage); print and/or broadcast journalism; as actors, presenters and in television programme production; advertising and marketing; radio (as presenters as well as in programme production); digital, web and new media production; multimedia industries; teaching; lecturing; arts therapy; and public relations. 

A key advantages of this joint degree is that it also equips you with valuable transferrable skills that can be adapted to a wide range of administrative, management and leadership roles. Critical and creative thinking, communication, interpretation and research, among them. Being part of a crew organising media screenings and or theatrical productions also demonstrates your organisation and teamworking skills.

Some of the students choose to become teachers or take up administrative posts with orchestras, theatre companies, opera houses or arts centres. Others embark on postgraduate study to train as researchers and lecturers in higher education.
