Overview

As a student in Information Technology at Carleton University you will acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to address the IT issues of today and shape the future of information technology.

BIT offers three distinct programs. Each program is offered jointly with Algonquin College and also earns you a college diploma in addition to your university degree.

Information Resource Management (IRM), jointly with Algonquin College’s School of Health and Community Studies and grants you a Library and Information Technician diploma.
Interactive Multimedia and Design (IMD), jointly with Algonquin College’s School of Media and Design, grants you an Advanced Diploma of Applied Arts.

Network Technology (NET), jointly with Algonquin College’s School of Advanced Technology, grants you an Advanced Diploma in Technology.

Work Experience

A Co-op option is available. Co-op is the opportunity to get a head start on a career. Co-op work terms allow for the development of key employability skills, exploration of career options and graduation with tangible, workplace experience.

General requirements

You will need the full IB (three standard [SL] and three higher level [HL] subjects), or with a minimum of 28 points (please note that some programs are more competitive and will require higher scores).
You may have one subject with a grade of 3, provided it is offset by a grade of 5 or better. Prerequisite subjects must have a grade of 4 or better.
IB students may be awarded advanced standing (transfer) credit for HL subjects with a grade of 5 or better subject to the discretion of the appropriate faculty, to a maximum of 3.0 credits.
If you are currently completing the IB in a Canadian high school, please refer to the admission requirements and application deadlines for your province.
