Through the Instrumentation Engineering Technology degree from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) as a student in our two-year diploma programme, you’ll gain access to our state-of-the-art instrumentation facility, recreating what you would find in industry to help you learn in the classroom. You will also learn how to use a variety of tools and technologies including sensors, controllers and software to create sophisticated systems that can monitor and control multiple variables in real-time.

Programme Structure

Over the course of the programme, you will learn how to:

apply principles of process control to analyze and optimize the performance of industrial processes
install and maintain process instruments
install and maintain analytical instruments and sampling systems
configure and troubleshoot industrial controllers
install, programme and troubleshoot industrial controllers
design and specify measurement, safety and control systems for industrial applications
use computer hardware and software relevant to instrumentation
work in a safe and professional manner following regulatory and industry-specific work practices
communicate effectively
use tools appropriate to the instrumentation field in a safe and effective manner
Work as part of an effective team
