Dalhousie offers one of the few mandatory commerce co-op programmes in Canada, allowing you to develop valuable skills, gain experience, and build a professional network before you begin your career—all while earning a pay cheque and a full year of work experience.

Our accounting major is designed to prepare you for a professional accounting programme after graduation. Learn the judgment and technical skills needed for external financial reporting and developing internal information used for management planning and control.

Quick Facts:

Your first two years of this programme are dedicated to core commerce courses. In your third and fourth years, you'll choose electives tailored to accounting. The Bachelor of Commerce degree at Dal includes a mandatory co-op programme, consisting of three paid work terms.

Past students majoring in accounting have completed their co-ops in the accounting departments of private companies and public accounting firms, with many continuing their employment with the same company upon graduating.

Approved work terms can be completed locally, nationally, or internationally.
