Overview
International Business is an interdisciplinary major that will provide you with problem-solving and analytical tools, while exploring specific international areas of interest. Choose a regional focus selected from the Americas, the European Union, Russia and Eastern Europe, Asia or developing nations. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a semester abroad.
Programme options
International Business majors complete a four-year degree from Dalhousie. One semester, either an academic or a work term, must be completed internationally. This gives you the opportunity to travel, connect with different cultures, and create a worldwide network of friends and future business contacts.
We offer one of the few mandatory commerce co-op programmes in Canada. You’ll complete three paid work terms as part of your degree. Many International Business majors choose to complete one or more of their work terms internationally, in Europe, Asia or beyond. Other students opt to work in the international departments or export divisions of local or national companies.
The following International Business programme options are offered by Dalhousie University ’s Faculty of Management. Connect with an academic advisor after you start your studies to explore options such as:
- Bachelor of Commerce with Major in International Business (Co-op)
- Certificates including Fintech and Financial Innovation, Leadership, Management Accounting and Quantitative Finance.
What you will learn
In Dalhousie University's Bachelor of Commerce in International Business programme, you’ll gain an understanding of why firms expand overseas, how foreign and domestic operations differ and the issues and problems that arise when business operations extend across national boundaries, the financial implications and beyond.
You’ll learn through case studies, class discussions, assigned readings, lectures, and more.
In business, many opportunities exist in other countries and cultures. That's why employers seek well-trained individuals who have the skills necessary to transverse our borders.
