Business and Financial Economics (Hons) – International Direct Entry University College Cork

Overview

The  Business and Financial Economics (Hons) – International Direct Entry  programme offered at University College Cork  comprises 180 credits. Students will study for one year if a scholarship student and for two years if a non-scholarship student prior to entering the programme in UCC. The students will complete two years at University College Cork, taking modules to the value of 60 credits in each of Second and Third Years. When studying at UCC a student may not register for more than 60 credits in any one academic year.

Planet features strongly in the programmes where students study a dedicated environmental economics module. Understanding the role of people in developing a sustainable future cannot be underestimated. Students gain an insight into this in modules on labour economics and health economics. The role of profit is considered in a wide range of modules including corporate strategy. Innovation theories are considered in modules such as regional economics. The teaching teams also pride themselves in using innovative technologies and teaching methods in delivering the programme.

It is important that our students develop the skills they need for their chosen careers over the course of their chosen programme. In both degree and diploma programmes, there is an emphasis on developing presentation skills, professional writing skills and teamwork skills. Students also attend dedicated workshops delivered by the UCC Skills Centre and the UCC Careers Office.
