Overview
Within the Civil Engineering Technician (Optional Co-op) course from Conestoga College you will learn how to support the safe and sustainable design and development of communities, highways, municipal infrastructure and systems, and civil structures.
You will earn a Civil Engineering Technician diploma and acquire civil engineering knowledge and technical skills that are in demand across the country, through hands-on practical learning, both in the field and in our state-of-the-art labs. You will learn about the design of wood, masonry, concrete, and water-related structures; test soils, road, and construction materials; use modern surveying and GPS technology; apply techniques to land development projects; create engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil projects; prepare quantity and cost estimates; engage in contract administration and project management; and so much more. Courses are led by highly-qualified faculty who are passionate about their field, have strong ties to the industry, and are invested in helping you achieve your academic and career goals.
Careers
- As a graduate, you can apply to become a Certified Technician (C.Tech.) through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and enter the workforce or you can continue your education toward the Civil Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma. Graduates will be prepared for employment in a variety of civil engineering roles, such as civil engineering technicians, project coordinators, AutoCAD technicians, survey technicians, and construction specialists.

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, mature student status.
- Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1251)
- Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U, or equivalent, or Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship (MATH1385)
- Minimum grade required for:
- MCT4C is strongly recommended
