Key Facts
Top 10 in the UK for Middle Eastern and African Studies (Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023). We are pleased to announce that we are returning to hosting on-campus open days in the summer and autumn. If you're a prospective student, you can also find out more about student life by chatting with our student ambassadors at a time that suits you, and ask any questions you may have about life at Manchester. All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application. We offer dedicated financial support packages of up to £2,000 for residence abroad students, based on household income. You will be automatically assessed for this, based on your Student Finance financial assessment - you just need to make sure you apply for a financial assessment in the academic year in which your residence abroad will take place. BA Arabic and French is a four-year degree with a year of study abroad divided between a Middle Eastern country and French-speaking country. The course combines compulsory language elements on both sides, delivered by native-speaker staff and with the possibility of pathways in business language, translation and interpreting. Alongside this, you will study the culture, politics, history, literature, popular culture, linguistics and religion of the areas in question.
