The emphasis is on developing a deeper insight into multiple disciplines, all while building lab skills, field techniques and the ability to analyse data. With a solid foundation in the sciences, these studies will lead seamlessly into further academic studies.

In many job opportunities, post-secondary experience is essential. The Associate of Science (General) Degree from Langara College provides students with a foundation of knowledge that will help in a broad range of fields. The two-year program leads into further academic study.

Programme Structure

Course structure:

Within the minimum 60 credits, students must complete:

6 credits of MATH which shall include at least one course (3 credits) in Calculus;

a minimum of 36 credits of science, which shall include at least:

3 credits in a laboratory science;

a minimum of 18 credits in science at the second-year level taken in two or more subject areas;

6 credits of first-year ENGL;

6 credits of first or second year arts other than ENGL (excluding MATH and laboratory-based science courses);

a minimum of 6 credits of first or second year arts, science or other university-transfer courses. (Students may include university-transfer credit from career program and KINS and RECR course offerings); and

a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
