Overview

In the Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science multidisciplinary degree from the Aix-Marseille University laboratory project brings together 4 to 6 students on a research topic proposed by a teacher-researcher or a researcher and chosen by the students. A project lasts one semester and the students meet regularly with the supervisor in his or her laboratory to work on the chosen subject.

Key facts

Depending on the subject, students may be required to carry out experiments in the supervisor's laboratory or to use software developed by the laboratory. At the end of the semester, students are required to produce a report and make an oral presentation.

The MPCI licence allows students to do several science internships in laboratories or in companies. During these internships, the student must have the opportunity to put his scientific knowledge into practice. The internships in laboratories allow students to discover the reality of the research profession.

General requirements

The MPCI degree is selective. Admission can be made at any level of the programme depending on the number of places available.
In Première class, it is necessary to have followed the Mathematics speciality and the Physics-Chemistry speciality. If your high school offers the Numerical and Computer Sciences speciality, we encourage you to take it, but this is not an obligation and any other speciality will also be considered.
In the final year of secondary school, it is necessary to have taken the Mathematics speciality and, at your choice, the Physics-Chemistry speciality, or the Digital and Computer Sciences speciality, or the Engineering Sciences speciality. It is also strongly recommended to have taken the Expert Mathematics option.
