Overview
The Marketing - Consumer Cultures (Hons) course from University of Gloucestershire incorporates modules from the social sciences so that you’re prepared to develop marketing strategies and campaigns capable of winning hearts and minds.
Outside of the classroom, you have opportunities to be involved in student-led Marketing Society and a Business School initiative called 360, which offers students the ability to consult on marketing problems and opportunities for real-world small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The course benefits from Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) accreditation, recognised by major employers, allowing you to earn a CIM Graduate Certificate or Diploma alongside your degree.
In your first year, you’ll study Consumer Behaviour and Analysis, Marketing Principles, Marketing Communication, and Social Media Channels alongside other Business & Management modules. These modules are compulsory for all marketing courses, allowing you flexibility to change to a different course or stream after your first year if you wish to pursue a different career path in your second year of study.
We provide you with the technology and expertise to work in our consumer behaviour lab, a purpose-built facility, to research what creates different attitudes and behaviours.
The course is underpinned by a deep understanding of professional practice and academic concepts. You’ll draw on the expertise of lecturers with extensive professional credentials and research experience and be inspired by industry guest speakers, including those who graduated from UoG.
Career opportunities:
Gaining an understanding of consumers and the culture opens doors to a spectrum of professional roles. As a graduate, you’ll be equipped to delve into marketing research, uncovering trends and insights crucial for informed decision-making. Develop the skills to excel as a specialist marketing consultant, fostering strong client relationships and driving strategic initiatives.
Elevate organisations as a brand manager, shaping the identity and market presence. Explore dynamic roles as a marketing and communications manager, overseeing campaigns that captivate audiences. Venture into corporate communications or public relations, fundraising and sponsorship roles crafting compelling narratives for brands and managing their public image.
Through hands-on learning and an industry-aligned curriculum, this course will prepare you for a versatile career landscape, empowering you to thrive in diverse roles.
