Overview
The Diagnostic Radiography (Hons) programme from University of Gloucestershire students applying for this course may be eligible for the NHS Learning Support Fund, which provides a non-repayable training grant of £5,000 per academic year.
You’ll learn to use a range of imaging techniques to assess injuries and illnesses. We’ll help you develop the skills and adaptability you need to deliver high quality patient-centred care in a range of settings. You’ll also learn about communication and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You’ll study the core subjects of anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics and clinical imaging to enable you to apply them to clinical situations. You’ll be able to put theory into practice in our new radiography suite which simulates real clinical setting.
We use a blended learning approach with time divided between university teaching and clinical practice. Around 50% of the course is spent in clinical placement settings under the supervision of experienced diagnostic radiography mentors who support you.
Career opportunities:
Central to our degree course is the strong partnership we maintain with local healthcare providers, both within the NHS and the private sector. This collaboration not only enriches our curriculum but also ensures that our students receive comprehensive, hands-on experience through a variety of healthcare placements. Our goal is to cultivate a sustainable local workforce that meets the staffing needs of health employers in Gloucestershire and beyond.
Many graduates pursue fulfilling careers within the NHS or private sector as diagnostic radiographers, playing a crucial role in patient care and diagnosis. Others channel their expertise into research, contributing to advancements in medical imaging and healthcare.
The versatility of this degree also opens doors to international opportunities, allowing graduates to practise and make an impact in locations abroad. Additionally, medical sales, education, or management are other fields where graduates can utilise their skills and experience.
