The Screen Arts with Honours - Visual Effects major at Massey University teaches you the skills to develop an exciting professional portfolio of work that you can carry into your visual effects career.

Design and control visual destruction, explosions, water simulations, and fluids – blending VFX seamlessly into live-action footage, animation, or games from concept to final cut.

Gain skills that will help you create fantastic characters and scenes using traditional techniques and advanced technology. Study character design, 3D modelling, world building, texturing and rigging, storyboarding, compositing, particle generation and dynamics. You’ll work with performance capture, virtual production, and a green screen stage.

The VFX Honours year is known for its individualised mentoring programme, where you work closely with an industry professional crafting your calling card to the industry – a showreel of your talents!

In addition, as part of the Honours programme, you’ll have an opportunity to intern at a Wellington-based effects company during the first semester. This optional programme places you at the heart of the international VFX industry.
