Overview

The Electrical Installations Technology degree from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) focuses on hands-on training required to install, repair and maintain electrical systems in residential, commercial and industrial environments. You will also gain theoretical knowledge to effectively communicate and interpret electrical drawings, graphs, and the Canadian Electrical Code Part I.

After completing this programme, you can find opportunities in residential, commercial and industrial construction, or as a purchaser and estimator in electrical installation services. Graduates can enter an apprenticeship and complete on-the-job apprenticeship hours to receive an Electrician Journeyperson's certificate.

explain, discuss and apply electrical theory and mathematics
install, analyze and maintain rotating, static and solid-state electrical equipment and controls
design, interpret and convert drawings and schematic diagrams for electrical installations
communicate effectively using written, verbal and graphical means
navigate, interpret and apply applicable sections of the Canadian Electrical Code Part I for electrical installations
Understand industry standards, legislation, policies and practices
