Overview
Veterinary Technology from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology provides basic veterinary services for dogs and cats owned by NAIT staff and students. It’s here where you’ll receive hands-on experience in procedures that include spays and neuters, vaccinations and teeth cleaning.
Careers
Upon graduation of the program, you will find a wide range of employment options, from assisting veterinarians in private practice to working at animal research facilities and zoos.
As an animal health technologist, you will have the hands-on skills to perform a variety of tasks including laboratory analysis of blood, urine and fecal samples. You’ll also be able to assist and perform radiographic procedures, and assist in anesthetic and surgical procedures.

- A Verification of Work-Related Hours and Experience form must accompany the application showing completion of 40 hours of meaningful animal-health work experience at a veterinary clinic within the past 5 years, approved by a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT). VMA graduates do not have to provide this.
