This History and Music (Hons) course from Bangor University is deliberately flexible, allowing you to pursue your passions and interests with a choice of modules in both subjects. You’ll learn to research, seek out information, think critically, evaluate, provide analysis, come up with ideas, be critical of accepted opinion, and construct your own effective arguments. You can discover how the music you study impacted society and culture in its day – and how it continues to be part of the current cultural conversation.

Careers

Music is known to teach you self-discipline, as well as enhanced memory, practical performance, composition, and production skills. While History develops some of the most sought-after skills in the workplace: research, critical reasoning, analytical and communication.

Studying them together, you’ll graduate with a skillset which can be adapted to a broad range of administrative, management and leadership roles. These range from banking and the financial services to education, research, legal services, hospitality, the civil service, private sectors and the third sector.

Our graduates have in recent years gained careers in museum work, law, teaching and the cultural industries. They work as music publishers, concert managers, community arts officers, stage managers, recording and broadcasting producers, and sound engineers.

Offers are tariff based, 104 - 128 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification* e.g.:

A Levels: including grade B Music.** History or Archaeology preferred but not required. General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.

BTEC National Extended Diploma in Music: DMM - DDM (including a unit demonstrating the ability to read staff notation - or see**)

Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma**: DMM- DDM

City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080)**: considered on a case-by-case basis

International Baccalaureate Diploma: including grade H5 in Music**

Access**: pass required

Welsh Baccalaureate**: We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications

T Levels**: T Levels in a relevant subject considered on a case-by-case basis

Extended Project Qualification: Points can include a relevant Extended Project (EPQ) but must include a minimum 2 full A-levels, or equivalent.
