Overview

Exploring culture, media, language and translation, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge to recognise and respect cultural differences, building better relationships with people of differing values, beliefs, preferences and behaviours.

You will learn and develop your competence in writing, speaking and comprehension in French or Spanish. At the same time, you can also explore historical and cultural aspects relating to your chosen language and the communities that speak it, such as media, film, contemporary issues or politics.

Careers

The transferable skills you'll gain during our Modern Languages and Media degree can open doors to a wide range of careers both in the UK and across the globe.

Taking full advantage of our excellent links with the media, creative and cultural industries, our Media graduates have gone on to work in a range of roles, such as creative writing, journalism and marketing.

Some of our Modern Languages graduates remain very much focused on language itself. Many go on to train as language teachers at primary or secondary school level. Another popular career is that of translator and others take advantage of access to specialist training here at Bangor to become teachers of English abroad.
