Overview
This Advertising and Marketing Communications programme is offered at Conestoga College . We are a rewarding, cross-disciplinary programme that equips you to be a creative thinker, with the ability to engage with on-trend brands, craft strategic marketing campaigns through social platforms, and to have the confidence and skills that the industry demands. Taught by passionate, award-winning faculty, you will learn the essential aspects of marketing research, integrated marketing campaigns, sales strategies, social media marketing, brand development, UI/UX design, copywriting, public relations and video production. You will also discover how to pitch a client, manage a marketing budget, perform campaign scheduling and deliver upon tight deadlines, as you work towards a career in the field. A 7-week field placement and live-client capstone project will better prepare you for the industry. Once ready, you will graduate from the programme with an impressive portfolio, a laptop full of industry contacts and a supportive industry network ready to assist you. Programme highlights include learning from award-winning industry professionals, working directly with live clients on projects, frequent guest speakers and agency tours, and valuable industry-based field placements.
Careers
- Graduates will have the skills to develop a media plan, prepare advertising strategy and copy, plan and execute complete campaigns, prepare media buys, execute design and production in both print and web media, and provide advertising account management in advertising agencies, small business, non-profit organizations, start-ups, and new media.
Graduates have degree completion opportunities in Conestoga's Bachelor of Public Relations (Honours).

General requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older with mature student status (See Mature Student definition for details.)
- Grade 12 compulsory English, C (70%) or U (60%), or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1250), or equivalent
- All applicants who meet the academic strength requirements (70%) must attend a program information session and present a portfolio of their creative work
- English proficiency
- Applicants with documents (transcripts) from an educational institution from a country other than Canada must have their documents evaluated for equivalency at an approved provider of credential evaluation services. Applicants to this program require a Comprehensive or Course-by-Course Report.
Technological requirements
All students entering this program must:
- have a laptop computer that meets minimum specified requirements
- own and maintain their laptop
- bring their laptop on the first day of classes.
- REQUIRED: USBC Thumb Drive, USBC 2TB Hard Drive
- NOTE: MacBook recommended if intend to pathway into Graphic Design or Bachelor of Design
