Overview

We realise that the situation around the world is changing all the time. If for whatever reason you cannot start your programme as planned, your place will be deferred to the next available start date. Provision will be made to continue and complete the programme online if required to ensure you will be able to compete your programme successfully and progress as planned to your university degree.

If you successfully complete the International Relations and Economics - Undergraduate Foundation Programme from ONCAMPUS Reading to the required level of attainment in all academic areas and achieve the required English language score, you will have the opportunity to automatically progress onto a place on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at the University of Reading . The UFP is set at NQF level 3, which is equivalent to A level standard in the UK. 

How long will I study for?

This programme lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, you will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable. 

Students will be expected to timetable self-study hours in addition to the classroom-based hours.

General requirements

  • From 5.0 IELTS or equivalent (with no single element less than 4.5)
    • Minimum age: 17+
    • To progress to this degree, you will need to achieve ABB in your academic subjects and achieve 65% in OCTOE (internal English assessment). Joint programmes with Economics require GCSE Mathematics at grade B/6 (or equivalent). If applicant cannot demonstrate they meet this requirement with qualifications taken prior to the foundation, Mathematics must be taken in the foundation.
