Media Foundation

Overview

This Media Foundation certificate program from Humber College is designed with input from industry partners and is taught by faculty with strong industry connections and experience who can give you valuable insights into the trends and realities of the media industry. In the first semester, you will develop strong skills for successful post-secondary learning while you are introduced to visual literacy, film studies, media communications and digital design. In your second and final semester, you will consolidate your general theoretical knowledge by choosing five electives from Special Projects, Video Production, Script Writing, Audio and Video Editing, Television Studio Production, Image Capture, and Design for Media 2.

Designed for students who are new to post-secondary education and media, this two-semester program will give you a broad understanding of what it is like to work in different sectors of the media industry, and will help you to develop a career focus in preparation for future learning and success in the workplace.

Your Career

A career in media can take you in many directions: video production, journalism, public relations, interactive media, advertising, and digital design and imaging. Our program allows you to experience all these possibilities and will help you decide where you want to go next. 

In your second semester, you will choose electives that will provide you with more advanced training and help you prepare for your next step – and we’ll help you apply to other programs that will lead you to your media career of choice. Our goal is to set you up for success.
