Overview

The Acting for Film and Television program from Humber Polytechnic combines education in the art and craft of acting with training in business protocols and professional standards.

What you'll learn

Under guidance of working actors and distinguished directors with decades of experience in theatre, film, television and multimedia, you develop and apply skills in voice, speech, singing, movement, dance, physical theatre, improvisation and character work. You practise auditioning and showcasing your talent and learn to create and build a personal brand while meeting the financial challenges of a freelance acting career. Creativity is emphasized throughout the program, as well as technologies that support acting.

In the final seven weeks of your fourth semester, you will take part in a Theatre Performance Intensive, which consists of rehearsing and presenting a play with the guidance and support of professional directors. You will also experience an On-Camera Intensive, where with the help of industry professionals you will build a screen demo that can be used to send to agents or casting directors upon graduation.

Successful completion of the program does not guarantee that students will find agents. Agents may require proof of permanent residence upon signing.
