Overview

The degree program in Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University offers a unique blend of required courses that give students an overview of international politics, domestic political structures, and the historical thought that led to the development of modern politics. This is combined with two courses in research that expose students to research skills that can be used in understanding the world around them. The remainder of the program is a flexible mix of courses that are offered on a regular basis that allows students the opportunity to explore topics that are of most interest to them.

Career

The PSIR students gain valuable transferable skills that help them pursue a variety of careers in the fields of education, business, government organizations, international organizations, nonprofit organizations, and more. The program helps students develop communication, research, organizational, and problem-solving skills. In our classes students learn how to collect and critically analyze information using both quantitative(statistical analysis) and qualitative (in-depth interviews, ethnography, focus groups, textual analysis) methods. These skills can subsequently lead students to pursue careers in marketing, education, research, policy analysis, data analytics, counseling, journalism, social work, and more.
