Overview
Throughout the Global Development Studies programme at University of Agder, you will gain international experience through field courses and exchange opportunities. In the final semester, you will have the chance to conduct fieldwork in collaboration with our partner universities in developing countries. This program is suitable for individuals who are passionate and interested in making a difference in the world.
What will you learn?
The three-year study programme aims to create an increased understanding of the conditions that lead to differences in social and economic development in various countries and regions. Its goal is to provide knowledge of global relations and development processes from an interdisciplinary perspective and social science point of view. This study programme provides you with a theoretical social scientific background and field experiences related to questions of development, international relations, development cooperation and change processes in a global context.
In the second year of study, you can choose from different studies as a minor. One offer is the minor "Sustainable Transformation", which is about explaining sustainability and how we can bring about sustainable development across different sectors in society.
Career Opportunities
A bachelor's degree in Global Development Studies opens up opportunities for jobs in;
- administration,
- planning of aid work,
- humanitarian work, and
- volunteering organizations working on development projects.
You can also work with international cooperation and information work in public or private organizations. Alternatively, you can engage in work with immigrants, refugees, case handling, or administration in the public sector.
