Overview

The course uses a variety of teaching styles that reflect the diversity of topics covered in modern mechanical engineering, and the range of skills and expertise that a professional engineer must develop.

In addition to core (compulsory units), the third year provides the opportunity of choosing specialist units.  As in BEng, the third year features an individual project - you will undertake a major investigative project by yourself. This may require scientific experiments and investigations.  The successful completion of this project is a necessary condition for eventual professional registration.  The fourth year of the Mechanical Engineering course offered at The University of Manchester features a major design group project, as well as further opportunities of choosing specialist subjects, in addition to core units.
