The Computer and Internet Engineering (Hons) course offered at the University of Surrey are boosted by our leading-edge research in next generation mobile communications, audio-visual processing and engineering for health.

Careers and graduate prospects

Our aim is to develop engineers with a solid grounding in electronics and the specialist skills needed to work at the forefront of mobile and internet technology.
After a year covering important concepts in programming and electronics, you’ll go on to study advanced modules in topics such as mobile communications, digital signal processing and artificial intelligence.
You can apply to study for either a BEng or MEng (Masters of Engineering). The MEng builds on the BEng course with a masters year and is a direct route to a masters qualification. Depending on your progress, you may have the option to switch to a BEng or MEng during your studies.
We find that the work record established during Professional Training placements gives our students a definite advantage when employers are making offers.
As our graduates are highly numerate, literate, business-minded and commercially aware, they are also very attractive recruits for companies operating in many other professions including management, banking, accountancy and software development.

Accreditation

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

ABB

Required subjects: mathematics and one of computer science, computing, design and technology (systems and control), electronics, further mathematics, physics, or chemistry.

A-level General Studies and A-level Critical Thinking are not accepted. Applicants taking the Science Practical Endorsement are expected to pass.

GCSE or equivalent: English Language at grade 4 (C).

International Baccalaureate Diploma
