The programme is designed to develop your design capabilities progressively over three years:
- Year One: Design Practices, Communications – sketching and drawing in 3 dimensions, Digital Making and CAD, Production in Furniture and Product Design, Wicked Problems: The Complexity of Critical Design Thinking, Communicating and Externalising.
- Year Two: Sustainability, Human Centred Design, Industry Live, Professional Practice, Independent Project, Critical Design Thinking and Contemporary Issues, Professional Placement Year.
- Year Three: Defining Your Practice, Public Platform, Design Futures: Independent Critical Project, Portfolio, Final Project.

General requirements
We accept a wide range of qualifications for entry to our undergraduate programmes. The main ones are listed below:
- A Level - grades BCC-CCC including a Grade C in Product Design or other Art and Design subject.
- BTEC - Extended Diploma grades from Distinction, Merit, Merit (DMM) to Merit, Merit, Merit (MMM) in a related subject, or evidence of experience in Art and Design
- T Levels – grade Merit-Pass (C+) preferred in a relevant subject.
- International Baccalaureate - a minimum of 27 points are required in addition to a HL Art subject at grade 6.
- Access to HE courses - typical offers for applicants with Access to HE will be the Access to HE Diploma or Access to HE Certificate (60 credits, 45 of which must be Level 3, including 30 at merit or higher) together with evidence of experience in Art and Design.
