Overview
Throughout the (Hons) Psychology course from the University of West London you will study both BPS core content and innovative modules that explore current developments in psychology.
You will learn from staff and guest speakers with valuable experience in the field, while also having the opportunity to apply your learning in a setting of your choosing.
Our psychology research facilities include:
- state-of-the-art brain imaging electroencephalogram (EEG)
- eye tracking equipment
- our immersive experience room
- and a range of experiment and research software.
We provide access and a high standard of support for the use of these facilities.
Career opportunities:
A psychology degree will prepare you for jobs and roles in many sectors, not just within the field of psychology.
If you are aiming for a career as a professional psychologist, it is important to be aware that the title "psychologist" itself is not legally protected, but seven specific titles are protected by law under the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). These are: Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist, Health Psychologist, Occupational Psychologist, and Sport and Exercise Psychologist.
To use any of these titles, you must complete a BPS-accredited undergraduate degree (or conversion course), followed by further HCPC-approved postgraduate training and registration with the HCPC.
For many careers, including the seven protected psychologist titles, further study is also needed, where you can specialise in an area of interest or explore something new.
