Program Description

At the Human Resource Management program at Auburn University at Montgomery, you’ll develop practical skills in leadership, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and people management. You’ll learn about compensation, health and safety, and labor law as you also become skilled at hiring the right people and keeping those you hire happy and productive. Internships at businesses such as East Alabama Medical Center, Kelly Services, Max Credit Union, and others will give you experience that will position you for full-time employment after graduation. Human Resource Management is a concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

Students intern with companies such as Rheem Manufacturing, SAVIC Innovative Plastics, Kelly Services, Baptist Health, Jackson Hospital, and East Alabama Medical Center.

The campus chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management Club gives students a chance to socialize while learning more about the field of Human Resource Management.

A degree in Human Resource Management will open up a variety of high-paying jobs in government, private corporations, small business, consulting, and non-profit management. Job growth in management occupations is predicted to be about average — six percent from 2014 to 2024. Salary expectations, however, will be far higher than average. Management occupations have the highest annual wage of the major occupational groups — a median annual wage of $97,230 in May 2014.

General requirements

A completed AUM online application; no application fee.
Your official high school transcript (which should be mailed or e-mailed directly to AUM from your high school) and official English translation if your transcript is not in English.
Proof of English proficiency (unless you are exempt). You can take the TOEFL IBT (minimum 61 points), the IELTS (minimum 5.5 points), PTE (minimum 44), or the TOEFL PBT (minimum 500 points). More information about English proficiency test requirements.
Proof of sufficient financial resources (Bank statement and/or letter from your sponsor in English). The bank statement should show at least $28,625 available.
