Theater, Festival and Event Production (Hons) Bath Spa University

Overview

The main focus of the Theater, Festival and Event Production (Hons) degree offered by Bath Spa University is to create highly motivated, multi-skilled, free thinking, employable individuals. You'll train in all aspects of theatre and digital production: costume design (including hair, make-up and prosthetics), scenography (including prop-making, scenic art, design and construction), sound, audio, video and lighting, theatre production and stage management. To complement your hands-on training in traditional theatre techniques, you'll also learn new technologies including AutoCAD 3D, lighting design software (Capture), 3D printing, projection mapping and VR design.

Exactly what you'll do depends on you, but you'll have our guidance throughout in whatever subject areas you choose. As you progress, you'll select specialisms through show roles that best reflect your interests, aspirations and plans for future employment.

You’ll be taught by highly knowledgeable professionals with extensive industry experience and connections, and benefit from working directly with our regional and national partners (such as Theatre Royal Bath, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Bristol Old Vic, The National Theatre, Bay Productions, Bath Festivals and Cardiff Theatrical Services).

Careers

Our graduates work in a wide range of industries and professions, including theatre, film and TV, cruise ships, theme parks, live events and festivals, event organisation and management, and all aspects of technical design and production. 

Many also work freelance, bringing them into contact with a wealth of venues, companies and organisations such as Birmingham Royal Ballet, The National Theatre and Cardiff Theatrical Services.
