Overview

The first year of the International Relations and Politics (Hons) programme at the Oxford Brookes University introduces you to the theme of democracy. You will explore a range of political ideologies and political systems as well as exploring the individual in politics. And through your studies you will engage with contemporary issues in global politics.

To prepare you for future employment, you'll have the opportunity to take part in a Work-Based Learning module. Oxfordshire has one of the highest number of non-governmental organisations (NGO) outside London. So this is an excellent place to pursue career opportunities.  

In second year you will study the history of political thought and begin to examine, in some detail, the ways in which the real world of politics and international relations can be understood.

In the third year you will be able to choose from a range of specialist modules which reflect the expertise of staff.

You will undertake a piece of independent research under supervision. You will have the option of doing more independent research.
