Programme Structure

Tailor the degree to your interests - study an individual pathway in the Bachelor of Health Science

You can choose to study the Bachelor of Health Science without choosing a major, following an individual pathway. This is a great way to tailor the degree to your interests and prepare yourself for a wide range of non-clinical careers.

English Language Requirements

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120. Read more about TOEFL iBT ®.

General Requirements

Counselling:

  • If you are applying for the Counselling major you must also:
  • Be capable of meeting Vulnerable Children’s Act (VCA Act) including police clearance. Interview may be required.

Paramedicine:

If you are applying for the Paramedicine major you must also:

  • Be capable of meeting Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA Act) requirements and Vulnerable Children’s Act (VCA Act) including police clearance.
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence.
  • Applicants with English as a second or other language who have not completed at least three years of secondary schooling in NZ will be required to meet IELTS requirements.

  • Other majors: IELTS (Academic) 6.0
