Overview
Dalhousie University 's Mathematics programme is so much more than solving equations – it provides a solid base for every scientific field. It is not just the numeracy you learn here that applies to so many intellectual pursuits. Our courses teach you how to think and solve problems, and you’ll learn how to make airtight arguments and look for every possible loophole.
What you will learn
- Studying mathematics is more than working with numbers - you will learn how to think critically and solve problems. Our Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a well-rounded set of courses that will be of use to any student, whether they major in mathematics, economics, oceanography, or physics.
- Enjoy small class sizes taught by award-winning faculty and more opportunities for one-on-one learning. We offer certificates in actuarial and financial mathematics as well as one in applied and computational mathematics.
Possible future study: Graduates often go on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematics because it offers the opportunity to complete an in-depth research project in their field of interest. However, an undergraduate degree in math also puts you in a good position if you want to pursue graduate studies in another scientific field.
