Overview

The Art Education BFA program from Georgia State University conforms to the Georgia Performance Standards for Fine Arts, which are based on the 2007 edition of the 1994 National Standards for Arts Education, What Every Young American Should Know and Be Able to Do in the Arts.

These national standards were established by the National Art Education Association working as part of the Consortium of National Arts Education Associations, affiliated with MCREL (Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning). Students fulfilling the Art Education program requirements will be well-prepared to achieve State of Georgia Teacher Certification.

Students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree must first enter as a B.A. in studio and take Foundations courses. They then can apply and be accepted into either a B.F.A. in studio or art education.
