Description
University of London alumnus József Váradi has donated over £1 million to the University to provide scholarships to support up to 100 distance and flexible learning students over the next ten years. Ten scholarships will be available each year.
József completed an LLM with the University via distance learning in 2014, specializing in International Business Law. He is the CEO and co-founder of Wizz Air.
The Váradi Scholarships will continue the University of London’s founding mission of opening access to education and connecting worlds.
Thanks to the generosity of alumni like József, the University can break down barriers to education and provide support to some of our most deserving students, allowing them to improve their lives and the lives of others in their communities.

Each successful applicant will be eligible for an award of up to £10,900 towards the cost of their programme fees.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- Have an offer for the programme you applied for. The programme being undertaken must be a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
- Be a new student
- Reside in one the following countries: Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Poland, Greece, Malta, Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Turkiye, Italy and Romania.

Scholarship applications will open again for the 2027/8 academic year. This will be for programmes which start in or after September. Applications will likely open again in June.
When scholarship applications are open, the process for applying is as follows:
In order to apply for a scholarship you must have already applied for a programme and received an offer of a place on a programme.
First submit a programme application form online. Online applications are located on each programmes webpage.
When you have received an offer for your programme, complete the online scholarship application form which is available here when application submissions are open.
