Description
The bursaries are available to pre-service trainees completing a specified Level 5 or above teaching qualification for the further education and skills sector. Funding is provided by the Department for Education and allocated on a first-come basis.
Benefits
Mathematics: £31,000.
Science, including chemistry, physics and biology: £31,000.
Engineering and/or manufacturing: £31,000.
Computing: £31,000.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities: £15,000.
English: £10,000, capped at 100 places.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be graduates or skilled non-graduates training pre-service to teach an eligible high-priority subject.
- Complete a specified teaching qualification at Level 5 or above for the further education and skills sector.
- Meet the Department for Education’s eligibility requirements.
- Submit the required bursary claim form and supporting evidence to the University as soon as possible.
Funding is limited and not guaranteed.

Application deadline
Eligible trainees must submit their bursary claim form and supporting evidence to the University. The University then submits the bursary application to the Department for Education on the trainee’s behalf.
University tutors will provide application guidance. Students studying through a partner college must work with their college tutors to submit the form and evidence.
