Research and development (R&D) is one of the key functions of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. Our research and development activity supports working life and regional development in our competence areas.
Kajaani UAS has established close relations with national organisations and companies. Our research and development projects are very business-oriented. We develop products and processes, transfer technology, knowledge and know-how to businesses, companies and other organisations.
There are 50 to 100 persons working in our projects every year. Tens of new projects start every year. Total project budget exceeds 10 million Euros per year.
Recruitment Services provide students with information on and feedback from real-life businesses. We also offer opportunities for discussion between students and employers, guide students in their career planning and promote their opportunities to find employment. Recruitment Services participate in arranging various events and collects information in order to monitor how successful KAMK graduates have been in finding employment.

The objective of study guidance and counselling is to support and encourage students to accomplish target-oriented study skills and to become professional experts in their own field.
Here at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences study supervision is the responsibility of all staff members and also staff who are specialised in study supervision and counselling duties.

A company called Kajaanin Pietari provides accommodation for both degree students and exchange students. KAMK International Office books accommodation automatically for all incoming exchange students after accepting their application. The students coming to study for a full degree, should apply for accommodation themselves.
The KAMK Library, located on campus in the Information Centre, is at your disposal. Its collection of 32 000 volumes is certain to provide you with material for your studies, research and development and business requirements. The library also offers digital materials and has a versatile collection of periodicals.
You, together with 2000 other students from the different schools, are studying in the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) Campus area, which is just a short walk away from services in the town centre. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences’ integrated campus area is the only one of its kind in Finland.
KAMK has concentrated on state-of-the-art equipment and study methods, as the campus undergoes a process of constant renewal and development. For example you can opt to complete part of your studies as E-courses (virtual learning).
KAMK Sports offers both students and members of staff sport- and gym turns and also the possibility to participate in group exercise classes. All activities are arranged on campus and are free of charge. Students and staff can use sports hall and gym in Taito2 -building, Kunnon Syke sports facilities (music exercise classroom and gym) in Tieto2. KAMK Sports aims to offer students different kinds of sports services to support the well-being and overall motivation. KAMK Sports also cooperates with the Student Union KAMO to arrange different kinds of sporty events.
