History
- The cornerstone of the university building was embedded on the 7th of June 1900. Within the next four years buildings of total volume exceeding 200,000 m³ were erected on the area of 6,4 ha.
- Back then, the university was divided into six faculties: Architecture, Chemistry, Construction, Machine Engineering and Electrotechnics, Shipbuilding and Ship Machine Engineering and General Sciences.

University Ranking
Student services
International Relations Office (IRO) and International Students and Vistors Office (ISVO) deal with:
- central coordination and management of Erasmus+,
- managing of ISVO,
- coordination of activities related to international cooperation,
- cooperation with foreign institutions and organizations within international cooperation
- cooperation with GUT's faculties within preparing agreements in the field of education and international cooperation database,
- international promotion and information activities,
- international programmes and scholarships counselling.
Housing services
- Gdansk University of Technology provides modern housing for 3 000 students in 12 dormitory buildings located close to the university (5 minute walk).
- The dormitories offer high standard accommodation with mostly double rooms. Triple bed rooms are also available, as well as rooms suitable for disabled people.
Library services
- The Library of Gdansk University of Technology (GUT) is the oldest and the largest technical library in northern Poland.
- The Library holds: over 1,200,000 thousand volumes, mainly textbooks and study guides, science books,scientific and technical journals, standards and standardization handbooks, technology and economics books and online databases
Medical services
- You can choose private insurance company or join a voluntary health insurance in Poland in one of National Health Fund branches (NFZ- Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia).
- Under this insurance scheme, students are entitled to free medical care and can use university health care clinics and health centres.
Campus life
- Within the campus historic architecture coexists with modern buildings full of wellequipped teaching rooms and highly specialized laboratories.
- The symbol of the university is the monumental Main Building, built in the early twentieth century, and designed in Neo-Renaissance style by the renowned Dutch architect, Albert Carsten, later professor of the university.
Sports facilities
- In ASC there are 20 sports sections including swimming, athletics, judo, volleyball, football, tennis and table tennis. Sports center is located in Wrzeszcz on the main traffic route, close to SKM(a commuter train) and tram lines.
- They have a modern, newly renovated swimming pool complex, which is used by students during physical education classes.
Student clubs
- Participation in the activity of circles and student organisations is an excellent way to develop your personality and improve your team working skills.
- Getting involved in scientific or cultural projects will let you share the organisational spirit and it will bring you satisfaction while still having fun.
- Student organisations at GUT are numerous and so are their activity profiles. You are sure to find such an organisation that will help you develop your passions or take a break from daily routine of studying.
