Overview
The study program in Mechanical Engineering from Gdansk University of Technology is designed to be engaging and hands-on, featuring a mix of lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory classes. These sessions, focused on fundamental mechanical engineering subjects, are thoughtfully delivered to students throughout their initial four semesters.
Professional electives within the Design and Production Engineering specialization are seamlessly integrated into the final three semesters. The programme follows the CDIO philosophy—Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate—which adds a practical and innovative dimension to the curriculum.
Among the core modules worth highlighting are mechanics, strength of materials, machine design, materials science, manufacturing techniques, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrotechnics, electronics, welding technology, and hydraulics and pneumatics.
Career opportunities
- The employment opportunities are very wide-ranging from small and medium enterprises to the traditional mechanical engineering companies such as the production of machine components, steel constructions, automotive industry, shipyards, refineries, refrigeration systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems, hydrostatic drive systems or numerous branches of servicing companies. These opportunities do not exploit all possible carrier options. The graduate can find employment in construction offices or pursuit second-level studies in mechanical engineering or related areas.
