About

History

Partner of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nantes, L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for higher education dedicated to design professions.

Founded in 1988 and recognized by the State, the school is a non-profit organization.

Education

L’École de design Nantes Atlantique offers several types of degree program, depending on the level of studies and the course chosen.

The 2-year postgraduate course can be completed either via the traditional academic route, or, for the European students only, as part of a vocational training program.

The Bachelor’s degree in design is based on a 5-year period of study, with no intermediate status. However, after 3 years of study, the school issues a certificate stating the number of European credits (ECTS) acquired, which allows students to obtain equivalency of their 3 years of study in other establishments.

Research

The development of research activities at L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is grounded in a rationale of interdisciplinarity and pooling of resources with Universities and "Grandes Écoles”. The signature of an agreement with the University of Nantes and its involvement within the regional RFI initiative (Research, Training and Innovation) in Pays de la Loire dedicated to creative industries shows its commitment to developing a concerted scientific policy promoting joint research activities. The shared ambition is to set up an internationally recognized center of excellence, based on a collaboration among academic research partners, leaders in innovation and socio-economic players.

Career

As well as training future “creatives”, the school’s main responsibility now lies in preparing students for their working life. Today, the employment rates of our young graduates are the key indicators of success. The job placement rate of 93% of our 2015 graduates (i.e. employed 15 months after graduation) proves that our efforts to develop close links with companies (an approach which is central to our pedagogy) are paying off.

Services

Library services

To improve accessibility for everyone, it has been designed for people to circulate around the walls. To add to this, a mezzanine projects over the inside/outside entrance, and creates a corridor separating the relaxation area from the study spaces. To make this mezzanine more attractive, the straight shape has been curved and is supported by the existing load-bearing parts.

Student Life

Campus life

Since 1998, L’École de design Nantes Atlantique has been located on the technological campus Atlanpole La Chantrerie, in the northeastern area of Nantes (France), housed in a custom-built facility thanks to the support of local authorities (Nantes Saint-Nazaire Chamber of commerce and industry, the Pays de la Loire regional authorities, the Loire-Atlantique area local council, Nantes Métropole). The only design institution in western France, the school benefits from a unique regional situation.
